“As you quiet your mind, you begin to see the nature of your own resistance more clearly, struggles, inner dialogues, the way in which you procrastinate and develop passive resistance against life. As you cultivate the witness, things change. You don’t have to change them. Things just change.”

Ketamine Therapy Cost and Insurance Coverage: What You Need to Know
Insurance and Ketamine Therapy
Most insurance companies do not cover ketamine therapy under standard mental health benefits. Although ketamine is FDA-approved, its use for mental health is considered off-label, which often limits insurance coverage.
Coverage for ketamine therapy varies by plan. Reviewing your options carefully can help determine if reimbursement is available for your sessions.
You can still explore possible reimbursement options:
1. Check your coverage
Review your policy or contact your insurance provider to ask if ketamine therapy, preparation, or integration is covered. Coverage can vary widely between plans.
2. Ask about out-of-network reimbursement
My practice is out-of-network, which means you would pay upfront and may be eligible for partial reimbursement. Ask your insurer if they reimburse for out-of-network mental health services and what documentation they require.
3. Request itemized invoices
I can provide an itemized receipt (superbill) including session dates, services, and provider information to support your reimbursement claim.
Privacy note
Using insurance for psychotherapy may require sharing parts of your mental health record with your insurance company. Contact your insurance directly to understand how this may affect your privacy.
How to Prepare for Ketamine Therapy?
Choose a quiet place where you will not be interrupted. Set a simple intention but remain open to what happens. Avoid heavy food or alcohol prior to the session. Have a trusted person nearby. Wear comfortable clothes and prepare calming music. After the session allow yourself time to rest and process what you experienced.
What are Ketamine Therapy Side Effects
Your prescriber will review details with you, but ketamine can cause temporary effects such as dizziness, nausea, mild confusion, or dissociation during the session. These usually fade soon after treatment. Some people may also notice brief changes in vision or heart rate. A safe, supportive environment helps ensure a comfortable experience.
